Will AI Disrupt Argus in Commercial Real Estate?

Yesterday we launched a poll about Argus. 87% of ~1,000 respondents said Argus will will eventually lose its edge. Their argument in a nutshell...

Software has never been easier to build.
Argus isn't super complicated.
Altus (Argus's owner) has pivoted in recent years to cloud-based data and analytics, and reportedly has fought with clients to get access to that data. But who needs data these days?
What about AI?

From a pre-Covid study on CRE Innovation (from Altus):
"45% of executives spend at least 15-25% of their time managing and organizing data."

If that study were relaunched today, would executives still spend that much time on data organization? AI could take a big bite out of the value proposition.

We're sponsoring an industry-wide survey to identify how professionals are leveraging AI, where cracks are emerging, and where there could be opportunities. With over 500 responses across all major CRE functions and firm profiles, the early takeaways are striking.

[The survey will shut down this week, so get your responses in! Takes five minutes to complete. Link in comments.]

The other side...

Altus has built a billion dollar company on the back of Argus. You can bet they have a different view on the sustainability of the firm's edge. Check in later this week to see why Altus could be in a sweet spot relative to other firms.

If you were one of the 800 people questioning Argus's dominance, you might be surprised.
