Top 20 AI use cases in CRE:
What real estate professionals are actually doing, ranked from 683 use cases.
We asked 727 commercial real estate professionals how they actually use AI. 683 of them sent us their best use cases.
We scored every one against a rubric and sorted them into three levels:
1. Basic assistant, one-off prompts, ad hoc help.
2. Process improvement. Improved workflow around a human.
3. Workflow automation. No human needed.
76% of users are still parked at Level 1.
The Level 2 and 3 operators were rare, and the ones we found were relentless.
An example...
Pensford wired Outlook, Claude, and its own pricing models together to read 900+ inbound rate-cap requests a day and draft the responses. Reported savings: 600+ hours a month. Its sister company, LoanBoss, now abstracts 100 loan documents a day, turning a 3-month portfolio onboarding into a few days.
But the real signal was the ranking. We tallied which use cases came up most across all 683.
The pattern is hard to miss. The industry's most-cited AI opportunity is also its oldest chore: powering through documents.
We broke down all twenty, with mention counts and what each one signals, in the full piece.
We also marry these use case observations with industry predictions of job displacement. ...specific evidence of the significant gap between CEO expectations and how AI is being used today.
